Research Interests:

My interests lie in population genetics, phylogenetics, and evolution. Specifically, I am interested in how phenotypic polymorphisms intersect with each of those fields. I study how and why organisms vary in coloration, the underlying genes responsible for phenotypic polymorphism, and how those polymorphisms vary throughout a population and across a landscape. I am currently studying population genetics and phylogenetics of the rough-legged hawk, and the underlying genetics of phenotypic polymorphism in Buteos, including the Harlan's hawk. Additionally, I am collaborating on a project on bristlecone and limber pine genetics, and the underlying genes responsible for color variation in Pisaster sea stars.
